The Best

This is the best clinical physiology text one can buy. Rose has such a beautifully elegant writing style that you will not want to put this book down. I kid you not, this is the only book you will need to understand fluids, electrolytes and acid/base physiology. This text book is filled with repetition all in the hopes of having the reader understand. Fluid and acid/base can be incredibly complicated but this book clearly shows how everthing actually makes sense. Fluid and electrolytes in my opinion are the hub for medicine - this book will get you rolling. Man, they need a gold-bound edition for this bad boy. All kidding aside if you are a fan of Guyton...you'll be a fan of Rose.

I am currently studying medicine and got this book to help get a handle on the renal system and acid-base topics. I found it easy to understand, with good detail and lots of extra information. The case studies are a great way to illustrate the different conditions. I would definitely recommend it if you are keen to get a handle on (or master) acid-base and electrolyte physiology and disorders.

As a medical student with an interest in nephrology and acid-base disorders, this book provides a readable but rigorous discussion of the subject. Chapters are well-organized and do not have to be read in order - they are written to be independently referenced as the need arises.

I ordered this book Thursday n it was delivered as promised by Saturday bcuz I needed the book for class on Monday. I'm happy I got it on time! This is a good edition with details on everything u need to know within this profession.

Essential for understanding the importance of Vatican II, then and now. And for reflecting on Christianity.

Excellent edition. Necessary. OK, the documents can be obtained online, and if you like reading on the computer at night, fine.

This edition not only has the documents. Each document has a separate title page with the document's title in English and Latin as well as the date and Pope who did the promulgation, an introduction, a topical outllne extremely useful both as starting point and for remembering the main points of the text, blissfully medium to large fonts so reading is pleasant, footnotes that are actually footnotes and not endnotes so you can see whether they are bibliographical references or substantive notes.

I had decided long ago that I had to read all these documents but my version was a very portable hardcover in tiny print -- unlike this one, and I could not read them. I am now trying to summarize and remember "Gaudium et Spes". I think I may just choose 5 to 7 brief quotes to anchor my memory. If you like Pope Francis, or Vatican II, or both, you really must read this. And if you are lucky and have someone with whom to discuss them, or some of them, be it a priest, deacon, or lay leader, or friends, or even a book club, enjoy sharing with others and learning from them.

I could not put Alan Feldman's Immortality down. Not only are these poems exquisitely crafted and lyrical, but they are poignant and wise. At times I felt myself near tears. But this is no sentimental book--it's a brave, intelligent one, confronting the hardest subjects in life with a discerning and loving eye and ear. Feldman's book is a brilliant collection, one that reminds us that poetry continues to be a most necessary art.
