About the Author
Max Rabiee earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He has taught electrical engineering (EE) and electrical/computer engineering technology (ECET) courses for over 20 years. Dr. Rabiee is a registered professional engineer (since 1988) who worked as a control engineer for several years. He was a senior electrical engineer for over four years in charge of medium and large industrial control projects. Dr. Rabiee is a member of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT), the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society, and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Interesting

I read this book some thirty five years ago. It is the biography of a minor criminal in England, who was a person who was totally unrepentant and attempted to blame no one for his choices in life.
It was probably the first book that I read which gave me a picture of life outside that of a normal middle class existence. From that point of view it was a revelation.
One of the interesting things about the book was that it told of a criminal underworld before the spread of drugs. Robbery and theft were purely motivated by commerical considerations rather than by any addiction.
The narrator in the book is a person who despite spending a third of his life in jail is able to tell his story with some ironic detachment and at times the book is hysterically funny. The scene with a social worker from the Salvation Army is particullary amusing.
One of the interesting things in the book was a description of how to do an Armed Robbery. The narrator explains how the best weapon to use is an iron bar. People will often think that they might not be hit by a bullet or that they can overpower their attacker. An iron bar is something which everyone sees as causing harm and will lead to a robbery going ahead smoothly without resistance. One would hardly think of the modern drug filled criminal being able to muster the self possession to think through the crime and the likely outcome as used to happen in the past.
Not a book which fills you with a golden vision of humanity but a readable and interesting book.

Better than book 2

I was wary going into this book as I did not much care for book 2. I felt Sky was a background character in her own book, and Chris and the seethe were the story. I am pleased they were not part of this story much. We got back to our true main characters. The pack was more central, and I liked that as I got this book as a shifter and magic book. That said, I feel there has been a lot of focus on Sky's magic, and not much on her shifter side. It seems that there is more of an acceptance, but I have not really seen where this came from. I would like to see more development there as that is a major part of her. It also does not seem that the pack does much together unless there is conflict, so other than all being shifters I am not sure why they have a real loyalty to one another. I would like to see that explored more. The concept of the two Alphas is interesting, and I would like to learn more of the dynamics there as it seems to work. I liked that the Makenzie Hunter resolved some prior issues before adding too many new ones. I dislike it when authors tend to pile on too much with out resolving some problems. I liked that it seems the Ethan/Chris relationship seems to be ended for good. I hope it stays that way, as I didn't find it plausible and was distracting. I feel Ethan is back to his character more in this book and is focused on the pack again. I think Sky is starting to show more of a backbone, and I like that. I enjoyed learning more about Sebastian's character. I really like Claudia and find her any interesting supporting character. This book addresses a lot about Sky's feelings of right and wrong and her humanity. I hope she starts to be ok with the fact that no matter what--human, shifter, magical being etc--things really aren't always black and white, and you make your own decisions on moral code and it is fine to break from some previous notions. I think that is where she is starting to go, and that shows strength of development and growing as as a person. All in all, I enjoyed the book, and hope people continue with this series as I am certainly looking forward to the next book.

Always captivating!

This series has been truly captivating! Skylar as a main character has been groomed perfectly by the author to where she is now, and the entire universe is working its way too.
Ethan and Josh have established themselves as the two brothers everyone would love to meet and hang around, maybe date around too, and the pack's have all grown throughout the 3 books.
In this third installment, Vampires are much more of our neighbors than the first book started them with, we even learn to love Chris, Quell and who knows... admit we kinda like Demetrius and Michaela after all.
Skylar's relationship with Quell as complicated as it is keeps you rooting for an ending that will leave them both happier, while we're all waiting for her and Ethan to finally get together.
Of course there's something brewing in the horizon and we expect the fourth book to be full of new adventures as there are so many open questions in the air.
Read it if you havent, there's a sadness when you finish the book and realize you wont see the next one for another 4 months.

I have enjoyed reading McKenzie Hunter's Sky Brooks Series very much

I have enjoyed reading McKenzie Hunter's Sky Brooks Series very much. Midnight Falls has taken the series to another level by allowing the readers to see a different side of some of the characters, and to better understand the reason behind some of their behaviors by learning more about their background and origin, especially Ethan and Josh. I like the way the author has revealed more of Sebastian and Ethan's humanity without them losing their were-animal animalistic appeal. I love Sky's quirky remarks, some of which I am surprise haven't caused her to be knocked on her rear. I was surprise to see the different side of Sky where she was not so sweet and innocent, but embraced the animal within her. I am looking forward to learning what happens between Sky and Ethan, is there real romance between them. Hurry with book number 4.

Well-written and Useful Introduction/Review of Physics

One of the reasons I bought this physics study aid was because I read Mr. Curran's "Homework Helpers-Chemistry" and found it to be an excellent help in my pursuit to learn Chemistry. The author once again has hit a homerun with his physics book. Concepts from the classical areas of physics (Newtonian mechanics, electricity, magnetism, light, thermodynamics)covered in a first-year course in high school or college are explained in a conversational style while retaining appropriate rigor. The chapter tests are well-written (with the answers to test questions explained), and the interspersed diagrams help to reinforce topics covered in each chapter. I'm glad I came across both of these books.

The book arrived within a week and is helping me greatly prepare for the CSET science exam. Another excellent resourse is the Homework Helper-Chemistry. I recommend either of these books for anyone taking physics or chemistry at the high school, college level or someone like me preparing for a test. The Homework Helper assists me when I don't quite get the concept from the text book. Great resource. There are some questions that are given to help one understand and then the answers are just a few pages away.

About the Author

Ezequiel Morsella, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Social Cognitive Neuroscience at San Francisco State University and an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. He conducted his doctoral research at Columbia University and his postdoctoral training at Yale University. With John Bargh and Peter Gollwitzer, he is an editor of Oxford Handbook of Human Action. His theoretical and experimental research on the mechanisms of human action has appeared in journals such as Psychological Review and Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition.
